Job DescriptionPOSITION OVERVIEWThe Phoenix division of Ashton
Woods Homes is in search of finance/accounting analyst to work with
the VP of Finance on supporting the division operations and
providing financial information and analysis for the annual plan
and quarterly forecasts, as well as monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc
reporting.RESPONSIBILITIESResponsibilities of this position will
include, but not be limited to:
- Review monthly financial statements, account summaries and
reports.
- Support in the preparation of project proformas, annual plans
and other financial projections.
- Liaise with Central Accounting and Division Function heads for
month-end processes.
- Assist with community pricing.
- Reconcile and process monthly option payments for land bank
agreements.
- Manage the lot takedown process.
- Prepare sales margin calculations on sales and inventory
homes.
- Assist with land development budgets and perform quarterly land
transfer analysis.
- Profit participation calculations for retail home
closings.
- Prepare and assist with meetings for Land Budgets, Indirects
Budgets, Land allocation costs, VPO and Construction Variance.
- Weekly wire projections.
- Obtain business licenses and maintain tracking for
renewals.
- Community Review compilation.
- Utility and Vendor Rebate tracking.
- Control costs by analyzing budgets and actuals, establishing
procedures and implementing corrective action as required.
- Perform continuous improvement of financial processes and make
recommendations towards reducing time and improving efficiency in
many areas of the business.
- Perform value-added and other ad-hoc analysis and provide
decision support for special projects and initiatives across the
business.
- Safeguard the Company's assets in accordance with Corporate and
Division policy and generally accepted accounting principles.
- Other duties as assigned.SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Strong/Advanced Microsoft Excel skills necessary.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize several tasks without
compromising quality of work or missing deadlines.
- Must be able to use word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets,
presentation (PowerPoint) for advanced internal and external
communications, creation of reports and presentations and database
maintenance.
- Ability to review, analyze and interpret information as well as
troubleshoot to solve problems.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication
skills.
- Must be able to interact effectively with all levels of
management.
- An understanding of generally accepted accounting principles
and cost accounting.DESIRED CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance required.
- Four (4) years accounting/finance experience preferred; direct
experience in home building is helpful.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Mix of public and industry experience helpful.
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in stressful
situations.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication
skills.
- High degree of professionalism; ability to communicate with
confidence.
- Self-directed; takes initiative, proactively addresses
problems; can work with minimal oversight.
- Highly organized and flexible, with the ability to prioritize
multiple projects and meet deadlines, often with frequent
interruptions and changing circumstances in a high-volume
fast-paced work environment.
