Job Description:

The JCC is seeking an enthusiastic, team orientated Youth Director. This full-time, exempt position. The Youth Director is primarily responsible for providing leadership in program delivery to all programs and services offered to users ages five years through 13 years on a daily and annual basis. This leadership will ensure the smooth functioning of the Youth department and that the highest levels of care, education and program delivery are met for members, community members, children and families served in these programs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise and support Youth Programs Coordinator, Kids Club and Counselors.
  • Directly supervises drivers, develops van routes for Club J on a daily basis throughout the school year. buses for all JCC programs as requested.
  • Ensure programming within the Youth Department contains Judaic content.
  • Identify and develop new partnerships outside the agency that will bring value to the Youth Department.
  • Ensure Youth Programs Coordinator, Kids Club, Drivers and Counselors are supported through direct supervision, mentorship, guidance and growth and are provided with a safe, healthy and intellectually stimulating and challenging work environment.
  • Attend, participate and add value to the Youth Program Department lay leadership committees.
  • Ensure that all department staff are oriented, and trained appropriately to ensure the highest levels of program delivery and standards.
  • Ensure DHS compliance
  • Organize, deliver, support, recruit for, ensure enrollment in, and author grants for a cohesive programs for children ages 5-13 and work with children, parents and professional colleagues.
  • Ensure the highest levels of communication with program users is achieved through active supervision and mentorship, written plans, meetings and adequately communicating program goals and plans to program users through newsletters, and varied means of communication.
  • Plan, coordinate and participate in staff training based on the needs and interests of the staff within the Youth department.
  • Oversee, support, and maintain awareness of annual budget for Youth Department .
  • To ensure that youth programs are adequately staffed and that they have adequate supplies so that our programs maintain excellence in quality and delivery.
  • To assume responsibilities as assigned for JCC special events.
  • Perform other duties and assume additional responsibilities as needed. Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements (KSAs)
    • Demonstrate skills in: leadership, effective management strategies, organization, creativity, and flexibility, excellent verbal and written communication skills, effective interpersonal skills necessary to work with young children, parents/guardians, and other staff.
    • Possess knowledge of: Local and Arizona State minimum licensing requirements for Youth programs.
    • Possess the ability to: Be sensitive to cultural differences, demonstrate flexibility and enthusiasm in work style, create a positive and harmonious workplace, and effective time management. Must also have the ability to work as part of a team with other staff members and the parents/guardians of children in our care; promote high standards of program excellence, resolve conflict effectively and demonstrate maturity as well as the ability to get along with a variety of people; respond effectively to constructive criticism and give constructive feedback to staff under your supervision, colleagues and supervisors, and ensure that an environment which fosters maximum physical, social, cognitive and emotional development of children is developed and maintained.
    • Demonstrated proficiency with computer software: including MS Word, Excel, Publisher, and Outlook.
    • Demonstrated effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; customer- service orientation with specific strength in diplomacy and discretion strongly preferred.
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team.
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience teaching and or administrating youth programs. Education and/or Experience
