This role also manages the maintenance and repair of equipment and the review of department projects.The ideal candidate will be a Certified Pesticide Applicator in the State of Arizona or the knowledge to obtain certification upon hire. Knowledge of and experience in planting, cultivating, pruning, and fertilizing shrubs, cactus, succulents, and trees. Qualified candidates must have an ISA Arborist Certification with a minimum of five years combined experience in an assistant or manager-level position within the industry.     • Directs the Horticulture team in all daily responsibilities.
    • Supervises all planting, fertilization, and maintenance of landscapes including trees.
    • Orders supplies and materials within budgetary constraints.
    • Manages all outside contractors that are performing work in landscape areas.
    • Is responsible for filing records on annual maintenance activities, including but not limited to, chemical and fertilizer applications as required by law.
    • Responsible for personnel and cost estimates for annual budgets and other projects.
    • Ensures maintenance standards are met.
    • Plans, assigns and directs the work of others.
    • Prepares reports and project estimates.
    • Maintains effective teammate and public relations.
    • Runs and directs the landscape operations in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
    • Assists with communication and scheduling of sub-contractors including interior plant companies.
    • Communicates with other departments verbally and written.
    • Oversees and manages payroll matters, approval, and safety training in the Paycom system.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Housekeeping & Horticulture.Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
      • Required to work, days/nights, weekends, and holidays.
      • Required to stand for long periods of time (up to 9 hours).
      • Must be able to operate various machinery related to landscape and turf maintenance.
      • Required to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
      • Required to push and/or pull 90+ pounds and lift up to 90 pounds with assistance
      • Required to stand and walk - Frequently
