      Job Summary
      Scottsdale Community College (SCC) is seeking a full-time, Facilities Assistant Director. This position oversees assigned facilities operations planning and management activities including construction, remodeling, technical direction and/or oversight of facilities, grounds, equipment, utilities and physical plants. To best serve the students, department, and college, this position requires a physical presence on campus. Please read the "How to Apply" section to avoid incomplete application materials.

      Essential Functions
      35% - Provides comprehensive management of all maintenance and operations of SCC campus facilities, including oversight of day-to-day operation of the central plant. Evaluates, modifies, and implements work practices for maximum efficiency; manages and supervises the work of employees, contract workers, and vendors responsible for the operation and maintenance of facilities, custodial services, grounds and landscaping, mechanical and electrical equipment, and utilities distribution. Develops, initiates, and manages a program for the procurement, maintenance, or replacement of major equipment in the central plant and buildings, along with furniture, fixtures, and small equipment in college buildings. Develops and implements programs for preventive maintenance, energy and water conservation, OSHA training for trades and M&O staff members; coordinates facility-related needs with outside vendors providing services housed on the campus. Supervises and evaluates the work of department managers and other direct reports; plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews, and evaluates the work of staff; oversees staff training, career development, and succession planning for the department; develops, interprets, and administers departmental and District policies and procedures; performs related duties as assigned. 25% - Acts as college representative, to project teams led by District project management staff and consults with Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC), for major construction and remodeling of buildings, structures, and the expansion of utilities infrastructure. Budgets, selects consultants and contractors, and then manages and oversees smaller construction, remodeling, renovation, and maintenance projects; serves as liaison with architects, engineers, contractors, and vendors; follows the District's policies and procedures including those for capital development and procurement. Provides professional and technical recommendations during the planning-design-construction process for capital development of new and remodeled buildings, expansion of utilities infrastructure, including voice and data, and parking and lights; serves as the college liaison with architects, engineers, contractors, vendors, SRPMIC representatives, State Fire Marshal, and staff members from the District Support Services Center. 20% - Develops and controls a department budget that includes staff, contractors, remodeling projects, and utilities; approves requisitions for supplies, materials, and contractor services; selects 3rd-party maintenance and grounds contractors through a bid process; manages the fulfillment of their contract obligations, including quality control of work. 10% - Assist with tactical, strategic, and long-range planning for major capital projects, remodeling, maintenance and operation, and replacement of equipment; serves as the knowledge expert in area of assignment, overseeing, reviewing, and providing analyses and recommendations regarding function-specific and districtwide issues; relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. 10% - Attends, convenes and/or facilitates meetings. Performs other duties as assigned.

      Minimum Qualifications

      Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in engineering, architecture, construction management or related field and five (5) years (full-time equivalent) of facilities operations planning and management experience, which includes two years of supervisory experience.

      OR

      Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in engineering, architecture, construction management or related field and seven (7) years (full-time equivalent) of facilities operations planning and management experience, which includes two years of supervisory experience.

      OR

      High School Diploma/GED and nine (9) years (full-time equivalent) of facilities operations planning and management experience, which includes two years of supervisory experience.

      Desired Qualifications
      A. Five (5) years' experience and demonstrated ability for fiscal and budget oversight including budget development and budget management. B. Five (5) years' experience supervising trades, maintenance personnel and managers or supervisors in a facility management capacity. C. Five (5) years' experience and demonstrated ability of managing short-term and long-term goals of an organization in facilities management. D. Four (4) years' experience and demonstrated ability to manage facilities in a large institution that includes physical plant, grounds and building maintenance; organization and management practices as applied to the analysis and evaluation of facilities programs, policies, and operational needs. E. Experience developing and implementing a preventive maintenance program with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software program. F. Experience with performance Metric development and implementation. G. Certified Facilities Manager (CFM) and/or Facility Management Administrator (FMA).

Climbing stairs and/or ladders to reach assigned areas along with working at heights Work outdoors in a variety of temperatures and environmental conditions Will be required to work in an area of light to heavy noise levels daily This position requires a physical presence on campus
