Summary
Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Asset & Energy Management, the Managing Director, Gas Asset Management will be responsible for the financial and commercial management of more than 2,500 MW of utility-scale conventional power plants in California and Connecticut. The Managing Director will work closely with executive leaders to ensure financial and operational targets are achieved. Location, preferred Scottsdale, AZ or Carlsbad, CA.

Principal Responsibilities & Key Results
Financial Management


  • Direct responsibility for project P&L's and cash positions, ensuring that annual and long-term project budgets are developed with prudent assumptions for revenues, expenses, and capital projects.
  • Advance strategies within the broader Clearway organization to improve operational and financial performance and protect long-term value for project financial partners.
  • Initiate and lead internal teams to respond to regulatory, policy or market changes that would adversely impact project economics.

    Position Specification

    • Provide leadership to drive plant optimization and performance improvement initiatives, warranty claims, insurance claims, and revenue recovery.
    • Work directly with plant operations leadership to minimize plant downtime, minimize costs, and maximize plant revenue.
    • Initiate and support capital investment, refinance, and revenue enhancement proposals.
    • Ensure strict environmental compliance per project permits

      • Strong business and financial savvy with the ability to support a high-performance organization
      • Ability to formulate and articulate viewpoints (written and verbal) in a clear, persuasive, and succinct manner
      • Ability to handle multiple concurrent efforts and provide high-quality deliverables accurately and on time
      • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented, collaborative environment that emphasizes attention to detail, meeting deadlines and working together to achieve company-wide objectives
      • Demonstrated self-starter with a growth mindset and passion for leadership and people management
      • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills
      • Understanding of project financial models and financial metrics.
      • Ability to read complex agreements to analyze and identify obligations and risk.
      • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word


        Qualifications

        • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, Economics, or related field
        • MBA or CPA is highly desirable
        • 20+ years of energy industry experience in a project development, project administration, business administration, project management, asset management, contract administration, deal execution, project finance or other commercial role
        • Prior experience building a team and establishing processes and systems to support high growth activities
        • Experience working in conventional energy industry is required
