Benefits . Eligibility may vary. Position description Th e Division
of Gastroenterology and Hepatology is looking for an compassionate,
patient-centered Advanced Practice Provider (either a Nurse
Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to care for ambulatory
patients supporting inflammatory bowel disease and comprehensive
gastroenterology care teams. This vital member of the care team
will work independently and in collaboration with physicians and
other health care professionals to meet the needs of patients with
gastrointestinal symptoms. The Advanced Practice Provider delivers
specialty-specific care to individuals and families, emphasizing
health promotion, symptom management and disease prevention. This
individual provides care, focusing on the patient as a whole
person. The provision of care includes, but is not limited to:
comprehensive assessment, ordering, conducting and interpreting
diagnostic tests, prescription of pharmacological agents and
treatments, and non-pharmacological therapies. Teaching and
counseling individuals, families, and groups are an important part
of the practice. This individual must demonstrate knowledge of the
principles of growth and development of the life span. The ability
to assess data reflective of the patient's status and appropriately
interpret information relative to the patient's age-specific needs
is required. The Advanced Practice Provider demonstrates leadership
through involvement on committees and team projects, education, and
research and actively seeks to improve the practice through
performance improvement initiatives. The Advanced Practice Provider
is active in professional organizations and participates in
community activities. Qualifications New Grads will not be
considered at this time. Nurse Practitioner: Must be a graduate of
an accredited university. Master of Science in Nursing required.
Must be licensed or eligible to practice as an CNP in the State of
Arizona. Must have national certification. Physician Assistant:
Must be a graduate of an accredited university. NCCPA certification
required. Must be licensed/certified or eligible to practice as PA
in the State of Arizona. Additional qualifications Excellent
verbal, written and oral communication skills required. Ability to
manage time and stress effectively and adapt to unpredictable
situations within the patient care setting required Demonstrated
leadership ability including mentorship, teaching and quality
improvement desired. Two or more years in a Gastroenterology
practice with experience caring for patients with IBD preferred.
Strong computer skills in an Electronic Medical Record preferred.
License or certification Current RN licensure from Arizona, or
valid compact state license with Arizona license obtained within 90
days of start date, Advanced Practice Certificate, and Prescribing
and Dispensing Certificate in Arizona. Certification as nurse
practitioner or physician assistant by an approved certifying
organization. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be
obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained. Must provide
evidence of application for DEA certificate upon hire, obtain DEA
certificate within 90 days of hire, and maintain certificate
thereafter. Exemption status Exempt Compensation Detail Education,
