Scope of Responsibilities: The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) leads initiatives and innovations to support business growth - specifically the customer experience, emerging technology (weighing heavily on digital space), revenue growth opportunities, innovating in tandem with functional colleagues to support our business strategy within the guidelines and regulations of being a Healthcare Company. The CTO is responsible for the management and enhancement of the company's technology platforms and will be responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of all processes and procedures. The essence of the role is leadership, and the CTO must see the big picture and work with our franchise system, leadership team, and information technology staff to lay out the vision and strategy for IT in a highly regulated area in healthcare: HIPPA, EMR, EHR, HITECH & PHI. They must ensure maximum reliability, scalability, and enhanced performance from the company's systems and networks. They are a professional with a background in software design and development who can direct our IT team. He or she will be responsible for evaluating our existing technologies and processes, then advising the team on the best ways to move forward with cost-effectiveness and competitive advantages in mind.     • Through cross-departmental collaboration, set the technology vision and roadmap, data and information capabilities and the IT infrastructure for the company.
    • Identify, and select technologies enabling The company's platform capabilities to scale our business needs, while maintaining costs and integrating systems across the company.
    • Advocate and communicate The company's technology capabilities internally and externally, including the leadership team, Board of Directors, the franchise community, advisors, clients, and industry-focused thought leadership activities (conferences).
    • Responsible for developing and managing the technology budget based on our technology roadmap, while effectively controlling technology and headcount expenses.Technical Capabilities
      • Oversees the design, development, and implementation of comprehensive, computer-based information systems to ensure users' needs are met and data is processed according to company specifications and requirements. Users include both internal and external customers.
      • Focus on user information requirements by insuring great interaction amongst the team and users. Recommend and develop computer-based business solutions. Plan system applications and assign staff to develop tests, and complete programs and effectively lead the projects through successful implementation. Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and offer solutions to enhance effectiveness.
      • Improve existing software programs and develop new applications to meet future business needs.Information Security
        • Ensure that The Joint maintains the highest level of security and privacy throughout all products and maintains a certification of such controls.
        • Provide complete security solutions for cloud platforms, employees, and customers.
        • Create, implement, and enforce security systems, policies, and procedures including compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) internal control requirements
        • Oversee evaluation and administration of security audits.
        • Maintain regulatory and industry security compliance (HIPAA, SOX PCI etc.)
        • Manage Security Operations Center (SOC) including vulnerability, patch, exploits and continuous monitoring.
        • Manage the processes to develop secure procedures and prevent system failure. Responsible for the company's business continuity and disaster recovery plan.Miscellaneous
          • Assess and address technical risks and proactively work with the team to propose practical, common-sense solutions to ensure a great user experience for internal users (operations, franchisees, etc.) and end-users.
          • Ability to work, source, and manage technology vendors/partners. Understand when to outsource, when to hire internally, and manage the budget of the department.
          • Hire, train, develop and evaluate staff effectively. Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy.
          • Responsible for technology contract negotiations and vendor management on behalf of The Joint.
          • Ensure hardware and software is maintained and data is secured through proper back-ups and staff training.
          • Manage and implement best practices for The Joint's help desk operations to provide support for the clinics and employees.
          • Manage the development of hardware and software standards in accordance with compliance for The Joint.Technical Knowledge:
            • A solid understanding of Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services cloud computing and infrastructure
            • Advanced understanding of global and local network infrastructure including operating systems, firewalls, switching, routing, and secure VPN
            • Project management principles and methodologies (experienced in waterfall and agile methodologies)
            • Deep understanding of database architecture and analytical solutions (familiarity with MSSQL and MySQL)
            • Understand PhP and .Net platforms
            • Familiarity with SugarCRM is highly preferredRequirements:
              • The ideal candidate will have at least 20+ years of broad-based technology and information systems experience with excellent credentials and proven leadership skills.
              • MBA or Master's Degree in Information Technology or related field preferred Bachelor's Degree required
              • Certified in Advanced Information Technology highly preferred.
              • Must have experience working in a public company.
              • She or he must be an innovative thinker with substantial business acumen capable of and eager to vet the current and changing demands of the business and to recommend priorities to senior leadership when necessary.
              • In-depth knowledge of the technology and information needs of a large franchise organization or other experience in a company with multiple locations is highly preferred.
              • Familiarity with managing medical records is highly preferred (HIPPA, State Privacy Laws, etc.)
              • Experience with cybersecurity best practices is critical.
              • Possess a high degree of professional ethics and integrity, leadership, problem-solving, time management, and change management.
              • Be a team player with a team orientation and collaborative work style.
              • Demonstrate the ability to delegate, build consensus, create accountability and drive for results.
              • Be an open and direct communicator, accountable, a self-starter, with strong analytical skills.
              • Possess the ability to influence change and inspire others with entrepreneurial orientation, a sense of humor, humility, and respect.
              • Excellent skills in computing, software development, and software design.
              • 5+ years' executive-level leadership required.
              • Experience leading an organization through a substantial technology transition is required.
              • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to internal and external audiences.
              • Experience developing and maintaining proprietary software, including data warehouse design and architecture.
              • Able to balance multiple deliverables simultaneously and prioritize activities with available resources.
              • Demonstrated track record of setting and meeting deliverables.
