Overview and background on product development organization and role

Blue Yonder’s product organization consists of a leading industry team of engineers and product managers passionate about leveraging new innovative technologies to create an optimal customer experience. The organization invests in and develops Blue Yonder’s current market-leading planning, execution and retail solutions to harness the collective power of cloud, IoT, analytics and big data to bring new solutions to market that deliver real-time, actionable insights and customer value.

The VP, Finance – Product Development will be the global finance leader for Blue Yonder’s Chief Development Officer, supporting their product management and research and development organizations. Representing an annual budgeting spend of ~$160M across 8 main product verticals and business planning for Blue Yonder product management organization, the VP Finance will lead global planning and analysis efforts both for short- and long-range revenue outlook as well as to drive improvements in profitability through gross margin and cost productivity efforts. This individual will work closely with key business partners and executives to identify and implement financial and operational strategies within the business units. The successful candidate will possess software industry experience (SaaS experience a plus), strong business partnering skills, deep financial analysis skills, effective executive communication style, both oral and written, and the ability to impact the business and finance in a cross-functional capacity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The VP Finance will be responsible for:

Partnering with, and providing financial and operational support to our Chief Development Officer (CDO) and our SVPs of the Industry Strategy Teams (Manufacturing and Distribution Solutions, Retail Solutions and Cognitive SaaS Solutions)

Leading the strategic financial planning for the product organization (e.g.; Long range model) business units and annual budget process, preparation, and modeling in accordance with the company’s strategic plan.

All monthly forecasting and annual budgeting for the CDO’s organization

Preparing and reviewing with the CDO and their team our product’s profitability and key analytical insights

Participating in product investment strategy development by providing product line profitability; and market and competitor analysis and benchmarking. Tracking and reporting on progress of strategy through monitoring of actual results, sales pipeline, etc. Proactively identifying and escalating potential need for course correction

Developing in support with the CDOs organization business plan cases for strategic product investments and measuring both planned and actual return on investment

Partnering with leadership to identify opportunities to provide financial knowledge, data and information to individuals within the organization to empower and enable them to make well informed decisions.

Provide leadership for finance staff and serve as a key member of the CFO’s direct staff

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

Software (SaaS) experience preferred

Required to have 15 years of experience in Operations finance and/or FP&A; must have significant finance, data analysis, and modeling experience

Minimum of 7 years of experience having held significant financial leadership position/s

Experience working for a global company

High proficiency in financial planning systems (e.g. Hyperion)

High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint

Experience applying financial planning and analysis to a broad range of business problems and opportunities in a strategic and proactive manner

Excellent presentation, communication and organizational skills
