Job Description:


The grill cook's primary task is preparing food on the grill. Grill cooks typically cook meat, but they may also be responsible for grilling other kinds of foods, like vegetables, depending on the restaurant's menu. The grill cook monitors the meat's temperature to ensure it is cooked safely. Maintaining QSC standards and ensuring compliance and protocols for all food and beverage as required by law.


  • Inspect and clean food preparation areas, such as equipment and work surfaces, or serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices
  • Ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperature by regulating temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters
  • Ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and rotating stock
  • Setting up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies for food service
  • Demonstrate cooking skills and ability to follow established menus and recipes
  • Knowledge of proper nutritional requirements
  • Portion, arrange, and garnish food, and serve food to waiters or patrons
  • Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing them with utensils
  • Substitute for or assist other cooks during emergencies or rush periods
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned

Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift or reach arms over head or below waist. Must be able to hold or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted.


Must be able to work in well-lit or dimly lit areas. Must be able to work in moderately to extremely noisy areas. Must be able to work in various temperature settings or areas, such as temperature-controlled walk-in freezers, indoor areas exposed to outdoor weather conditions, or outdoor areas. Possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.


High School graduate or equivalent preferred. Previous restaurant Line Cook experience a plus, but not required.


Must be confident, great communicator with the ability to communicate in English, as well as oral and written communication skills. Must have a sense of urgency and ability to prioritize quickly, efficiently and under pressure/deadlines. Must be able to work varied shifts to include days, nights, weekends and holidays. Must present well to others in a positive and professional manner both internally and externally. Must be 16 years of age or older. Must possess and maintain a valid Food Handlers Certificate. Obtain any required alcohol service licensing requirements in ordinance with state liquor laws.
