The Right FitOur Patient Account Specialists are core members of the team and are integral in ensuring an exceptional end to end patient experience. This includes interpreting, analyzing, explaining, and balancing patient accounts to the patient and facilitating their bill pay experience or any other need they may have.Essential Job DutiesProcesses patient statements (outbound) according to the appropriate schedule, including final notices. Answer inbound calls from patients in order of when they are received, managing the patient statement line, and corresponding voicemails. Create and maintain necessary reports that facilitate the workflow and report results.Route calls to Full Cycle Billers, Schedulers, and Verifiers as needed to assist the patient in fulfilling their needs.Review, analyze, interpret, explain, communicate, balance, and correct patient accounts to identify and resolve billing and processing problems in a timely manner. Review patient statements for accuracy and completeness and obtain any missing information.Review insurance correspondences, such Explanation of Benefits (EOB) and research appropriate claims steps, as needed.Process patient payments, and post payments to the patient accounts.Successfully schedule patients with the goal of exceeding their expectations-timely, conveniently, and with the right provider or specialist, as needed.Provide a communication hub to and from the company, patients, internal team members, referring providers, clearing house, and payers in regards to benefit eligibility, payments, and denials (including authorization guidelines) regarding patient needs or account discrepancies.Navigates practice management technology (all systems) with proficiency, and maintains addresses in clearinghouse and other third-party applications.Processes returned mail.Review and work with RCM team to analyze claim denials in order to perform the appropriate resolution, rebilling, and/or appeals steps, as needed.Resolve tasks assigned. Contribute to team projects as needed.Communicate with all stakeholders (patients, referring providers, team members, vendors) daily in a positive and solution-mined manner. Accurately verify and interpret benefits and eligibility to ensure that our patients can make informed decisions in regards to the cost associated with their healthcare plan; while documenting eligibility and benefits within our systems as needed.Re-verification of benefits for all active Spooner patients on a standard schedule as needed.Process all charge entry and claims submission functions, including coding and managing rejections as needed.Resolve edits related to coding; obtain and review relevant documentation and ensure documentation supports services billed, as needed. Education and ExperienceMinimum associate's degree.Minimum of 2-3 years' experience working in a medical field with medical insurance. Excellent communication skills with emphasis on customer service.Computer and data- entry proficient. Basic level of skills with Microsoft Word, Excel and the ability to use other computer software.
