Basic Qualifications :Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience.CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within 24 months of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.Responsibilities for this Position:Developing mission-critical systems that help keep people safe is what we do. The opportunity we can offer is one-of-a-kind.When you join the team, you will work on the United States Coast Guard's Rescue 21 system. Rescue 21 is the Coast Guard's advanced command, control and direction-finding communications system used to locate mariners in distress and save lives and property at sea and on navigable rivers. Some of the key components of the system that you will be working with include, but are not limited to, Land Mobile Radios (VHF/UHF), RF antennas, and Direction Finding Equipment. By harnessing state-of-the-market technology, the General Dynamics-built Rescue 21 system enables the Coast Guard to execute its search and rescue missions with far greater agility and efficiency.As a Sr RF Systems Engineer on the Rescue 21 program, you will lead and mentor a small team of other RF Systems Engineers, primarily focused on Land Mobile Radio System Maintenance and Troubleshooting. There will also be situations where you will lead electrical requirements analysis, functional analysis and performance analysis for the design, integration and verification of electrical components, equipment and systems. You will work closely with other engineering disciplines, such as systems, software, mechanical, and field engineers, to support our technical engineering products through their life-cycle.What you'll experience:Technologies that aren't just top-notch, they're often top-secretA team of bold thinkers committed to exploring what's nextOpportunities to gain new knowledge - as it's discoveredWhat you bring to the table:A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, with an emphasis in RF/Electro-magnetics (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experienceExperience in applying electrical engineering processes and design toolsAbility to apply principles and techniques of Electrical Engineering with a focus on RF principlesAbility to lead a small team and provide mentoring/training to junior engineering staff and techniciansExperience leading electrical engineering (RF) failure analysis, conduct experimental tests, evaluates results to formulate and implement solutions to issuesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExperience conducting evaluation of product specifications and vendor capability to support product life-cycleExperience planning, leading and modifying established testing processes and procedures to ensure reliability, accuracy, through data collection, and analysisAbility to lead the design and execution of test plans to ensure accurate and consistent system testingAbility to provide remote (phone) support to Field Service Representatives on execution of test procedures and hardware troubleshootingExperience interfacing with project leaders and other professionals within the engineering departmentAbility to travel, as neededWhat sets you apart:Ability to effectively communicate complex ideas at the appropriate level to project leaders, program managers, customers, and techniciansExperience with Land Mobile Radio systemsExperience in specifying filter requirementsExperience with radio communication system design and maintenanceExperience using with RF test equipment (i.e., Vector Network Analyzers, Power Meters, Communication Analyzers, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal sources)Experience with RF system concepts (i.e. noise analysis, link budges, antenna radiation pattern analysis, propagation simulation)Experience with radio interference analysis and mitigation techniquesAbility to lead a small teamCreative thinking with the ability to multi-taskKeeps abreast of technology trendsThrives working in a team environmentExperience with MATLABFamiliarity with MS Access databases or SQLProficiency with MS office suite (Excel, Word, Power Point, Access, Visio)Experience with radio direction finding techniquesExperience with ITU terrain model propagation simulation#LI-HybridSalary Note: This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. Combined Salary Range: USD $113,000.00 - USD $125,400.00 /Yr.
