Job Summary
Scottsdale Community College (SCC) is seeking a full-time, Student
Services Specialist to join the Welcome Center department. This
position provides a full range of support service functions in the
SCC Welcome Center. The Student Services Specialist assists new
students with all aspects of using the my.maricopa.edu website,
self-service functions, applying for financial aid, and
understanding enrollment steps. This position works with a diverse
population of customers, students, administrators, faculty and
staff, coordinates the front desk reception area to ensure that all
students, faculty, and staff are receiving appropriate service for
assistance, and assists with test administration in the SCC Testing
Center and provides assistance in areas of admissions, financial
aid programs, registration, and appropriate referrals to other
related services. The Student Services Specialist utilizes
problem-solving and troubleshooting skills along with a wide
knowledge base of campus and district policies and trainings to
assist students, parents, colleagues regarding the various student
services functions. This position works closely with the student
services manager to ensure staff coverage is maintained and that
staff and student workers are adequately trained to serve in the
Welcome Center.
To best serve the students, department, and college, this position
requires a physical presence on campus.

Essential Functions
40% - Facilitates the enrollment of new and continuing students;
greets and assists new and continuing students
(in-person/phone/email/electronically) with completion of all
appropriate enrollment steps via several resources including
self-service, my.maricopa.edu website, new student enrollment
steps, financial aid applications, SCC website and referral to
additional campus departments when necessary; assists parents,
faculty, and staff in understanding the process to get started in
college; works with multiple customers simultaneously; responds to
inquiries through general information email account; participates
in phone/text campaigns; and responds to online chat through SCC
chat systems.25% - Assists with Testing Services and be
cross-trained to provide assistance in other enrollment service
functions. 15% - Coordinates and organizes Welcome Center
resources, staff coverage; assists with training of student workers
and temporary staff; provides assistance in areas of admissions,
financial aid programs, registration, and appropriate referrals to
other related services; and works with a diverse population of
students, administrators, faculty and staff. 15% - Coordinates and
maintains Welcome Center and other College database information and
reporting systems; utilizes district wide CRM; collects data on
program participation, prepares program reports, and works with
management to identify and implement enrollment and retention
strategies and student success opportunities.5% - Perform other
duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution, and
one (1) year full-time of student services or college teaching
experience or experience assisting with educational program
development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or
related student development programs.
OR
High School Diploma/GED and three (3) years full-time of student
services or college teaching experience or experience assisting
with educational program development and coordination, student
advisement, financial aid, or related student development
programs.
Desired Qualifications
A. Bachelor's degree or higher
B. Work experience in a Community College or other educational
setting
C. Demonstrated experience assisting student using multiple online
resources such as FAFSA, college websites and other student
self-service portals
D. Experience proctoring academic instructor exams and/or placement
exams
E. Experience assisting with the implementation of policies and
procedures for new staff and student workers to follow
F. Experience assisting and coordinating program and training
materials
G. Experience responding to student, staff, and faculty inquiries
via email, phone, in-person, virtually, and through chat
