Job Summary
Reporting to the IT Manager, Plant Systems, the role of the Plant
IT Network Specialist is to support IT and OT systems, coordinate
projects and production needs for Clearway with a focus on
renewable energy power generation plants.
The Plant IT Network Specialist will plan, execute, and finalize
Clearway projects and tasks according to the deadlines. This
includes designing and developing site networks, configure,
customize and support plant applications, devices and systems. This
role also coordinates delivery of development and production
projects that meet quality assurance standards. Assist and lead
technical teams in design and development tasks.
Principal Responsibilities & Key Results
- Participate in the implementation of technical solutions for
Plant Network Operations.
- Coordinate to identify, prioritize, and manage Clearway
projects and technology tasks.
- Contribute to project planning efforts including project
definition, requirements definition, technical design, testing
procedures and documentation, system documentation, user training,
and production delivery while coordinating and communicating with
business resources.
- Implement system enhancements and new systems through the
project life cycle insuring appropriate documentation and processes
to ensure compliance.
- Manage projects for delivery of systems and applications to
support Plant Operations and integration of Plant systems into
Business Operations systems
- Install, implement, support and enhance systems and
applications related to Solar and Wind farm SCADA systems and
Integration of plant systems into Renewables Operations Energy
Management and Business Intelligence Systems and NERC-CIP
compliance.
- Install, implement, support and enhance systems and
applications related to Solar and Wind farm IT/OT networks
including routers, switches and firewalls, servers and
desktops.
- Consult with business and IT partners to strategize, plan and
implement needed projects within designated time and budget
constraints.
- Proactively recognize and document business process gaps,
propose and implement improvements.
- Extensive knowledge of interfaces, integrations and process
flows.
- Coordinate with vendors to ensure projects are implemented to
standards for new implementations and for upgrading or enhancing
existing projects.
- Effectively communicate project and technology delivery
expectations to cross-functional team members and stakeholders in a
timely and clear fashion.
- Ensure quality of projects with appropriate Quality Assurance
methodologies.
- Maintain appropriate status reports, meeting minutes, and
follow-up with business partners and technical resources.
- Reviews deliverables before delivery to the business for
production support.
- Ensures project and technology documents are complete, current,
and stored appropriately.
Knowledge & Skills
Required
- Understanding of IT methodologies, processes, and project
management is required
- Layer 2: Ethernet, Switching, VTP, DTP, STP, PVST, CDP, ARP,
VLAN is required
- Layer 3: ICMP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, IPv4/IPv6 is required
- Layer 4: TCP, UDP is required
- Implementations: Subnetting, LAN, VLAN, Inter -VLAN routing,
ACLs, Nat, Static Dynamic routing, wireless network configuration
is required
- Other networking protocols: DNS, DHCP, NAT is required
- Ability to travel across the U.S. requiring up to 35%
travel
- Ability to plant IT equipment as required for
installation
- Ability to participate in the 24x7 on call rotation once a
month
Preferred
- Tools: Wireshark, Cisco Packet Tracer, Microsoft Visio, Putty
is preferred.
- Systems Administration: Configuration Management using
NCM
- Experience with OSI Soft PI, Energy Management Systems and
Meter Data Management System
- Understanding and experience with Energy Markets, Independent
System Operators (ISO) and Transmission Operators
- Understanding and experience with NERC CIP controls and how the
control environment impacts both the business and IT processes, and
systems
- Languages: Python, other programming language is a plus
Qualifications
Experience & Education
- Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in IT may be
considered in lieu of experience
- Cisco CCNA/CCNP certification is a plus
Required Experience
- 5+ years of IT network infrastructure design, development,
testing and deployment experience
- 3+ years of experience with installing, configuring,
troubleshooting, and supporting Cisco routers, switches and
firewalls
- Experience with creating and understanding documentation and
technical drawings
Preferred Experience
- 5+ years of plant OT systems infrastructure design,
development, testing and deployment experience
- 3+ years of experience with array of technologies such as
server operating systems, security, networking, etc.
- 3+ years' experience with configuration and troubleshooting of
communication protocols like DNP3, MODBUS and OPC for telemetry
data acquisition and control
- Experience in developing and managing small to large projects
through project life cycle working directly with cross-functional
teams
- Experience using automation tools such as Solarwinds
- OSI Soft PI historian installation, configuration, and
troubleshooting
