Abbott Scottsdale is seeking an experienced, Senior Electrical Engineer to assist in the technical support of Cardiac Rhythm Management and Neuromodulation devices. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot and isolate electrical faults and manufacturing defects down to the component level. Strong Surface Mount Manufacturing Technology (SMT) experience is required. Creation of formal engineering documents and technical reports is required. Must be able to promote continuous quality improvement and able to assist in defining risk assessments in a cross functional team environment based on technical data. The Senior Electrical Engineer will be able to apply engineering and scientific principles to formally evaluate hybrid manufacturing processes and or vendor component changes that can impact production yields or device reliability.
Supports product development and operations.

Creates prototype tools and fixtures required for component and circuit board electrical characterization testing to support failure investigations.

Works closely with Manufacturing and Design Engineers and external laboratories to effectively and efficiently determine the most cost-effective method for determine root cause: (Electrical Testing, XRF, X-Ray, Cross Sectional Analysis, Thermal Analysis)

Conducts electrical evaluations, captures relevant parametric and test data, uses statistical analysis to determine possible root causes.

Performs troubleshooting and fault isolation activities on a variety of complex analog, digital and RF circuits.

Conducts measurements specified in design verification plans, documents and tabulates results, and generates engineering reports.

Designs custom tools and troubleshooting methodologies with specifications, schematics and mechanical layouts to support production, fault isolation and test departments.

Works closely with external component vendors to review device datasheets and technical performance characteristics to quickly define and isolate possible nonconformance issues.

Performs statistical analysis on complex data.

Bachelor of Science in electrical/electronic engineering or related engineering field.

A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in performing technical and electrical performance characterization of complex surface mount and hybrid printed circuit boards.

A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience with bench instruments, automated test equipment.

Ability to test analog, digital and RF circuits and generate technical supporting documentation.

Ability to generate technical documentation, compose, compile and present technical presentations and content.

Demonstrated yield management and cost reduction experience.

Experience with root cause problem solving tools (A3, DMAIC).

Experience with statistical analysis tools (Minitab, JMP, Spotfire).

Minimum 2 years' experience working in a regulated industry.

Your preferred qualifications and education:

Bachelors/Masters in Electrical Engineering preferred.

Manufacturing experience preferred in electronic medical devices (4 to 6 years)

Strong Electrical Engineering background

Exposure to Lean methodologies.

Knowledge of SQL programming a plus.
