Sustainability of HVAC systems and cooling towersJob TypePost-DocJob RankPost-doctoral researcherJob InstitutionJob DescriptionPostdoc Position in Sustainability of Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) SystemsThe Circular Economy and Sustainable Energy and Materials (CESEM) Lab at Arizona State University (ASU) is accepting applications for a 1-year position of a post-doctoral researcher (can be extended based on performance and availability of funds). The research will focus on identifying novel approaches, improving the modeling and sustainability outcomes for Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems in buildings. The research will require in-depth skills in thermodynamics, ASPEN Plus, building systems and lifecycle assessment (LCA).The post-doctoral researcher will be based out of the School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment (SSEBE). The position will offer the candidate an opportunity to work in an eco-system of faculty, researchers and educators at ASU working on addressing complex sustainability challenges and facilitating a transition to more sustainable building systems. The post-doctoral researcher will have opportunities to collaborate with researchers and industry partners at the intersection energy, building and water systems. Research experience in thermodynamics, HVAC, building energy systems, ASPEN Plus and Python (or a comparable programming language) is necessary. A degree in chemical, mechanical or environmental engineering, while being preferred, is not necessary. Preference will be given to candidates with prior research experience covering SimaPro (or GaBi or OpenLCA) and ecoinvent will be given preference.Interested candidates can email Prof. Dwarak Ravikumar ( dtriplic@asu.edu ) with a cover letter highlighting how their background and research experience qualifies them for this position, a writing sample or a published journal article, and their transcripts.
